This is bull crap! I want my hockey!!
I payed for it; I have my tickets; I've done my part!
If they don't solve this soon, I will never buy season tickets again.....
Greed. That's all it is.

Maybe it's time that we make them believe it.
While it's true, like Paul said, that there is no league without the players or owners... It's even more true that there is no league without the fans. If we didn't spend our hard earned money on tickets, these players and owners would have to go out and get real jobs.... Not making an obscene amount of money entertaining us. When you get right down to it, they work for us!

When its finally over, we (fans) boycott games for one month.

You absolutely nailed it. It is disgusting that this isn't already resolved. After the fiasco of a missed season, this should have been negotiated and agreed upon last summer.

It totally wreaks of arrogance from the Players, Owners, Fehr, and Bettman.

If they miss significant time I will be P1ssed. Though after the last lockout, sure enough i was back game 1...

Good blog, Paul. I like the new CBA proposal you linked us to, except I don't recall revenue sharing being a part of it. I also agree that Bettman gets too much crap for just doing his job. It's too bad people just want to lash out without educating themselves.

"What NHL owners need to internalize is that there is no league without the players… and the NHLPA needs to understand that there is no league without the owners. "

Thanks Paul!!!!!

But you forgot one thing there is no league and no need for players IF the fans dont buy the tickets to pay them.

I am seriously considering telling Cigarran et al to stuff their 10.75% and demand my money back. The last time i watched baseball was the strike shortened searson. If these sum biotches drag this thing into the regular season, I may well decide to say F U NHL and NHLPA and go find something else.

I watched the HH Commandos practice over at rink B last night. Jeebus those are some big high school kids, and half of them can really skate. So, High school hockey my friend....and becoming a Reds Fan again. I was a fan as a kid growing up in Ohio, wayy back when Rose was a player, I can become one again. Where are they in the standings?

Some good idea's from the article in the globe about the proposed CBA ....the major issue is there are 10 teams that can't afford a 45 $ mil salary cap let alone one that has a $53 million dollar floor.....
Bettman wants lower salaries to make it easier for those teams to compete with lower cap levels..... players want the big market teams to share their revenues with the smaller, less developed teams.
Neither particularly care about the fans ....this is about having a system that allows small markets having the ability to compete with the big markets.....and which side is footing the bill.
No rights....no wrongs....just business ....with the customer getting screwed.

See, it got said anyway - at least once tonight, game or no game!

Personally, I have about 8 million irons in the fire so I won't be bored during this unnecessary halt to NHL hockey. And I will be there when the two sides get back to the ice whether it be next week or next season. None of the other of the so-called big four sports (five if you include soccer) interest me anymore.

Hey, I said it too!

You are definitely correct about no interest in the other pro sports.

I'll be watching the baseball playoffs, and I love the English Premier League. I'm fine with my sports.

Btw, we're having an Occupy The Bridge rally on Oct. 13, what would be opening night for the Preds, at 7pm in the plaza. We're also taking that opportunity to support the local businesses by patronizing their establishments before the rally. Wear your Preds gear and head downtown just like it was a normal gameday.

More and more people are signing up for it, and we'd like there to be a good representation of Preds fans. We're still working on details to make it an event.

At this point, it looks like we'll start missing regular season games to this $#@%ing lockout. I want the owners and players to know we are ticked at being treated this way. Both of them see huge increases in their revenues, while many of the fans are seeing decreases or stagnation in ours. I am not ready to give up my season tickets because I don't want to destabilize the franchise, but I like the idea of not getting Center Ice and anything else that contributes to the NHL/NHLPA revenue stream as mentioned on OTF.

When this is over, I'd love to have a method of showing our displeasure at being treated as irrelevant. Wouldn't it be great if we stayed in the concourse for the first 5 minutes of the game, or stayed quiet in the arena for those five minutes? I don't know if it is possible, but it would definitely get some attention.

I do like the visual of the teams skating out to a completely empty arena...

Unless we show up to the Occupy The Bridge event with pitchforks and torches, I don't think the league nor players will pay much attention. It will come across more as a rally to help out the little guys who are being hurt by the battle of the millionaires. I want to show them that fans are unhappy. Hearing crickets in our barn would achieve that. Even better would be for fans of all franchises to do the same thing. It would be awesomely unnerving.

I like the idea of staying in the concourse but I'd suggest a total boycott of the first home game back.

No one is under the illusion that the lockout will end because some Preds fans show up at Bridgestone Arena. We're trying to show some solidarity and let the Preds owners and players know that we do care. And yes, we want to support the local businesses.

No one else in the league has done anything. It would be another feather in the cap of the Nashville fanbase if we were the one entity that really showed up in numbers to let the owners, players and the rest of the NHL world how much we miss and want hockey back.
